Damn you Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass my Ass......

Inside the confused mess which passes for my head I am proper rawk. In spite of no longer being in the first flush of youth I like to think that I'm still a heroin and hookers kinda girl. Well, not yer actual heroin and not yer actual prostitutes, think of it as a trope signifying wild abandon and a smattering of danger....
I like to think this, but I am clearly deluded. If  I am any kind of rock at all it would be that Edinburgh rock, the stuff that is nose numbingly sweet and inclined to crumble under the slightest pressure. Here is what I did today. I went to a fabric shop with a lovely friend.  I went into raptures over ribbons and imported craft magazines. Money was spent, but it's ok because I'd budgeted for this trip and will still be able to pay my bills this month, nothing irresponsible. Came back home and had a delicious lunch of parsnip and mustard soup, foccacia, ( I'm very childish, everytime I hear the word foccacia I feel compelled to say " comin attcha") and Bakewell tart. Tea was drunk. Then I learnt how to make box bags. I've previously posted about my clumsiness and lack of crafting confidence, I fully expected there to be carnage. Apart from one slight snarl up requiring seam rippers and the continued prescence of my two beloved cats, who were intent on helping it was remarkably angst free. I am now the proud creator of a lovely thing and I couldn't be more proud than if I'd birthed it from my own fair womb.
Doing stuff like this gives me a real glow of accomplishment. It's a reminder of how little I actually need to make me happy. Just  good company, the chance to learn something new, and to not balls it up utterly. That's it, happy as a kitten. Self esteem restored in one afternoon. Not, however, very rock. To make up for this I feel compelled to point out three things. Firstly, knowing the what the day was likely to be like I put on my best channelling Kim Gordon striped top and large amounts of black eyeliner this morning. Secondly all crafting and tea drinking was done to a soundtrack of old school hip hop. Thirdly Kelley Deal has written a knitting book.Go, as the hipsters almost certainly don't say anymore, figure.
